WEEK SEVENTEEN: Little musician

On Easter we went to my grandparents' house and my husband's aunt and uncle's house.  At both houses there were pianos and  Katelyn found her way to both.   She played what she felt was the music to her current favorite song, and she sang along too:   Yo ho ladies (really maties) aWAY, they'll be treasure and adventure toDAY, heave ho here we go together as a team, Jake and the neverland pirates and ME!  It was just so cute.  I wish I could just bottle up the moment forever!

WEEK SIXTEEN: Decorating eggs

I'm almost caught up!!
Week sixteen was right before Easter so we thought it would be fun to decorate Easter eggs.  When we were out grocery shopping the week before we found a pirate princess themed egg decorating kit.   We thought this was perfect because Katelyn LOVES pirates right now. She watches a show on Disney Junior on the weekends called Jake and the Neverland Pirates and she can't get enough!  She sings the songs and she loves Captain Hook and Mr. Smee ( or Mr. Snee as she likes to call him ).
We had a great time decorating them with her and she was so proud of them when she was done!

WEEK FIFTEEN: Curls

I have fallen behind on my postings, so this is a couple weeks old but the picture was definitely taken at week fifteen!!
This week I was thinking about the beautiful ringlet curls Katelyn has right now and how we still have not cut her hair and she is now 28 months old ( don't want those curls to go away ).   I tried to get a good picture of them but they were either blurry or barely in the picture since Katelyn has no desire to sit still for pictures.  This was the best I could do.   I really need to get a good picture because we are going to have to eventually at least get her a trim and I don't know how much longer these curls will last.

WEEK FOURTEEN: Spring has FINALLY arrived!

Katelyn is SOOOOOOO excited it is warm again!   We got to go outside a lot this past week and she could not be more thrilled!   I am right there with her :)

WEEK THIRTEEN: Rain boots

On a whim we were out shopping and decided to get Katelyn rain  boots.    They were on sale and looked cute and would be useful on rainy days or maybe even if I plant a veggie garden this year and Katelyn wants to help by playing in the dirt.  She loves them  and wears them at home any chance she gets.  She wants them on when we are cuddling under a blanket on the couch and she has even tried to get us to let her wear them to bed!!!!!!   She is going to be very sad when they don't fit her anymore, so  I hope they last a good long time : )  Or at least until she actually gets to wear them out in the rain!

WEEK TWELVE: Feeling Blah..

(So this post is a little late but I made sure the picture was still taken last week.  I had to use my husband's droid to take it so it's not quite what I really wanted, but it works!)
For week twelve Katelyn ended with what turned out to be an ear infection.  For 4 days her temp went up to almost 104 and then down and then up.   For 2 of those days my wonderful husband stayed home with her and the other 2 days were the weekend.   It is awful :(  Then me and my husband got sick too with what appear to be sinus infections.   It was a fun filled week twelve and that is why I feel so blah !!!

WEEK ELEVEN: Sock pukits (puppets)

Katelyn and I made sock puppets this week from a kit we got at Borders ( they are going out of business near me and having a great sale).  The kit was great, it had felt and googoo eyes ( another Katelyn pronunciation) pipe cleaners and of course socks!   We ended up making 4 -  a cow, pig, princess and bunny.   She loves them all and runs around pretending to be them.   I am so excited that she is getting old enough to make more crafts and enjoys doing it!  All my craft items that are taking up room, but I couldn't just throw out, are going to finally come in handy!!!!!

WEEK TEN: Precious sleep

More technical difficulties :( The past couple of Mondays I have gone to pick up Katelyn from daycare  to find out she has bitten one of two of the other kids.   Well if that doesn't give you a horrible, am I not a good parent feeling,  I don't know what will.  The first Monday it happened I took her home and me and my husband talked with her and told her biting hurts and that if she keeps doing it she may not be able to play with her friends at daycare.  We even told she should give kisses instead of biting ( which will probably turn her into the kissing girl in the future, as it runs in the family ) .   This seemed to work and the rest of the week went by with no problems.   Then this Monday came around and I went and picked Katelyn up and found out the same thing happened.  I know that around the age of 2 this can start happening, but I want it to stop!   I started thinking about it and realized that both Mondays came after long busy weekends in which she really didn't have naps and she  may have gone to bed later then usual too. She also does not nap well during the week which made me wonder if lack of sleep is causing her to lash out by biting.  Hmmmm, well even if that is not truly the case she is getting as much sleep as I can get out of her in hopes that she will return to her pleasant non biting self !

WEEK NINE: Cuddle time

Due to some technical difficulties my post is a little late, but better than never :)
This week I got thinking about how precious cuddle time is with Katelyn, when she decided to snuggle up with Daddy on the couch.  It's not like it used to be when she would cuddle and fall asleep on you as baby.  Now you can only get a good cuddle out of her once in a great while. Most times she will cuddle for two seconds and then she's off doing something with her toys.  But every once in a while she will lay with you on the couch and cuddle under a blanket and it's the nicest feeling in the world!!

WEEK EIGHT: The Bronx Zoo

This past week was my birthday so I requested that we take a trip the Bronx Zoo.  I have wanted to go there for a long time and I thought Katelyn would really like it too!  Not all the animals were out because it is still too cold for some, but we got to see lots of birds, giraffes, lemurs, monkeys, gorillas, penguins, sea lions and Katelyn's least favorite - FROGS.    The first inside exhibit we went to had frogs and I was excited about this because I love frogs and Katelyn's nursery theme was frogs (which means she got lots of cute froggy things).   I think we may have traumatized her with the frogs since birth though, because the second we stepped over to look at the frogs she covered her eyes and kinda of cried and kept saying scared of frogs, scared of frogs.  OOPS!  Oh well, beside that incident,  she loved all the other animals, especially the Tucan and the giraffes, making my birthday complete :)

WEEK SEVEN: Cudder books Mommy

Translation( for those of you who don't have 2 year olds or former 2 year olds running around):  I want to color in my coloring books mommy.
One of Katelyn's favorite activities is coloring. It keeps her busy for quite a while.   She has a bunch of coloring books and crayons and loves to lay on the floor and go to town. The only problem is if I take my eyes off of her for a second, the wood floor, toy bench or toy kitchen suddenly have a new touch of color on them, courtesy of Katelyn and her crayons.   Since I don't want to take away an activity she loves just so my house does not become a Jackson Pollock painting,  I have learned that aqua doodle coloring books and and color wonder markers & books are greatest things ever!   In case you don't know, one only uses water to turn the almost blank pages into colorful scenes and the second uses makers that don't work unless you color on the special coloring books !  WooHoo!  They may be more expensive but not having the headaches of trying to clean up the crayon off everything is well worth it.

WEEK SIX: Hi Moon!

All this week a sliver of the moon was visible in the sky when I got home after picking Katelyn up from daycare.   Our routine became, get Katelyn out of the car and then say hi to the moon before going into the house.  It was so cute, she would look up, point and scream  Hi MOON a bunch of times and then we would go inside.   I never thought looking at the moon each night could be so much fun.

WEEK FIVE: Silly Faces :)

At dinner on Monday Katelyn and I were having fun and I took pictures of her doing all her silly faces!!  It made for a lot of giggles and pure happiness!  I couldn't pick just one so here they all are :)

WEEK FOUR: DRIP drip DRIP....

This week has been alot about snow and ice and DRIPPING Water!  This winter has given us the most snow we have had in  the 4 years we've been living in our house.  That means we have never had a problem with ice dams in the gutters until this year.   The icicles looked so pretty until one day water started pouring down around our living room bay window. AHHHhhhh!  We finally got it to stop by filling pantyhose with ice melt and sticking them all over the ice to create a place for the water to go instead of in our house (very snazzy looking too, ha ha).  Now I kinda freak out every time I see an icicle forming, but at least it makes for a pretty picture :)

WEEK THREE: Here come the terrible twos!

Wow, this week's photograph has been a very hard one to take.  Here is what happened this week:  Katelyn has been 2 for about a month and suddenly her attitude  has been changing.  She is constantly saying no, waving her little finger at us and even getting a little more aggressive.  I was also told that she recently has been put in the naughty spot a lot at daycare.  YIKES!!
So I was trying to come up with a photo that captures her attitude change and was just not coming up with anything that was really working.  Then today I realized that it was because I was focusing too much on the negative, and decided to focus on something positive.     So instead I captured one of Katelyn's habits that makes me smile, checking her toes for lint!

WEEK TWO: Snow, Glorious snow!

This week has been all about snow. We got snow Friday and Saturday night and then today we got over 2 feet!
Katelyn, LOVES snow this year.  Last year was a different story though.  We bought her boots and a snow suit  for Christmas and when the first snow hit we dressed her up and  put her out in the snow.  All she did was look at us like we were the worst parents ever and then bawl her eyes out.  Not the fun in the snow we were expecting to have.  This year though,  is a totally different story.  New Years Eve we put her in her snowsuit  and she was thrilled to go out in the snow.  We went sledding and made  a Frosty ( she likes to call the snowmen this because she is obsessed with Frosty the snowman).  Saturday night when the snow was falling we went outside and she was trying to catch the snowflakes in her hands while looking up at it falling her face.   She would giggle every time a flake would hit her face!  It was such a magical moment.  Today we stuck her out in the snow and it was up to her shoulders and she just stood in it laughing.  It is wonderful to experience this innocent love of the snow and I can't wait to get her out it in it as much as I can this winter.

WEEK ONE: Ringing in the New Year with ginger ale!

Well, my goal was to start my 365 project January 1st!   Sounded great and I even took my first picture to post while me, my husband and daughter were all at a lovely New Years day brunch put on by some friends.  We hung out and ate yummy food while our daughter played with her friends and all the dogs.   All was happy.   Then later that night after my daughter was tucked into bed (around the time I had planned my first post) IT HIT!  A horrible feeling in my stomach,  the chills,  a fever and then throwing up every hour for at least 10 hours.  The worst I have felt in a super long time!!   At one point I was so light headed and weak that I actually fell down the stairs, scaring my husband half to death and giving myself some lovely bruises.  It was a great time that lasted until about 1pm the next day.  Finally when the throwing up ended I just felt exhausted and could barely move and had absolutely no desire to take a picture or post anything.   It was a good thing my husband was there, because I could not even think of taking care of my daughter.
Finally Monday came around and I felt a little better  so a took a picture and then when I tried to open it on my computer I realized my photoshop elements was no longer installed!!  What the heck, I felt like my project was a lost cause.  Then I thought about it  and realized a lot of a people do a 52 week project, which is a least one photo a week for the whole year.  I decided that was more my speed especially the way the first few days of my project started out!!!!  So here goes!
